Required EH&S Safety Classes
The Nutrition Department requires Chemical Laboratory Safety class for all personnel working in a lab. Before working with biological hazards the Biological Safety & Medical Waste Management class is required. Before working with animals the Animal Care and Use 101 class is required. Before working with radiation the Laboratory Radiation Safety is required. The operation of a forklift requires the Forklift Safety Certification. The Nutrition General Lab Training (conducted by the lab safety officer) must be completed before working in a lab. If EH&S classes are full, the General Lab Training will be sufficient for chemical lab work until the Chemical Lab Safety class is completed. However, the other EH&S classes must be completed to do work in those disciplines in the lab. Also, Prior Use training must be completed for procedures on the Prior Use Training List. Information about EH&S classes (including online enrollment) is available via the below link.
